Nkateko Masinga, 26, is a South African poet, author, publisher, theatre actress, medical student and 2018 Mandela Washington Fellow.
In 2016, she started her own publishing company, NSUKU Publishing Consultancy, in order to assist other writers who want to get their work published, but don’t know where to start.
Masginga has said she “always felt as though she couldn’t find girls who lived like her in the books she read growing up”. To fill the gaps these books left, Masinga wrote herself into stories that reflected her own experiences.
Her written work has been published in various international publications and she has been awarded membership into the Golden Key International Honour Society for outstanding academic achievements. She was recently selected to be part of a dynamic and diverse network of 2 500 young South African leaders active in driving change across the country, as part of the “Activate! Change Drivers” programme. She is also a 2018 nominee in the Woman of Stature, Woman of the Year Awards.
